But after the 21-year-old former computer science student at Rice University in Houston turned up in a tiny UC Berkeley classroom this week, he told investigators he had "wanted to come West and disappear," police officials said. He was fairly successful - at least until he sought the use of an overhead projector Wednesday night. Wilson's mother had made trips to Berkeley, where Wilson's car had been found with anarchist literature inside, to look for him. She made public appeals for his return and hired a Bay Area private investigator who combed the streets and the Internet.

Vancouver, BC: Sheriff Van and Police Cruiser Firebombed

In plain daylight in the afternoon of August 6th, we firebombed two vehicles belonging to the police. One was a sheriff van parked in front of the courthouse on Main st, located south of Powell st. The other was a police cruiser parked on the south-east corner of Main and Hastings st, it was empty because the pigs were in the middle of conducting an arrest. That afternoon’s gossip in the downtown east side was one of sheer happiness found in the shared appreciation of seeing a sheriff van burn in front of the courthouse doors. What bliss must have been felt by the people locked inside awaiting their trials in that despicable house of injustice. Those who live in the downtown east side struggle together daily to survive beneath the booming development which continues to exclude them to an existence of poverty and prison. Along with the police and private security; the courts, sheriffs, and judges continue to enforce the orderly and lawful circulation of commodities and money with limitless social control. Their complicity is present in the example of development, police repression and prison. They should expect no less than burning vehicles and creative expressions of our contempt. We hope this act will spark communication and create new relationships of collaboration in struggle. Our choices move beyond run, hide and prison. There are endless possibilities to be found in the conspiracy of attack. We chose to act between the days of August 1st-7th because of the call for solidarity by 500+ prisoners in German prisons and around Europe who are on hunger strike. Spanway, WA: Military Recruitment Center Attacked

Last night several windows were broken at the US air force recruitment center in Spanaway, Washington.
Military recruitment centers are just one manifestation of the death machine that delivers ceaseless abuse to our communities. All infrastructure must be destroyed! Every window broken, every town hall razed, every tire gouged, is a hammer to an already crumbling facade; a paving stone lifted from the path of death.
This was done in solidarity with those confronting the monstrosities in the port of Tacoma, even in the face of its sadistic protectors.

In the wee hours of the morning of August 4 anarchist settlers used a ketchup bottle to apply red metal paint to a statue of John Galt in front of City Hall. August 4 was Guelph’s first ever John Galt Day. The town was awash in festivities and celebrations honouring John Galt and the plan he developed for the founding of the city of Guelph back in 1827. But who is this John Galt character?
John Galt was a Scotsman who worked for the Canada Company. The Canada Company was based in England and was the largest single commercial force active in the colonisation of Upper Canada (more or less present day Ontario). The company purchased 2.5 million acres of land from the illegitimate government of Upper Canada and worked to settle and develop it by providing ships to transport new immigrants, by advertising land for sale in the “new world” to Europeans, and by selling land at an affordable price to those looking to escape the horrors of industrial Europe

Anarchists' 'offer' a cheap publicity stunt

From Rocky Mountain News It's a deal only an anarchist could love - or, in this case, propose: Take your wads of capitalist cash that would otherwise be used to protect against riots, give it to the needy of Denver, and the anarchists will promise to save the human blockcades (or whatever mischief they have planned to disrupt the Democratic National Convention) for another day. So goes the offer from the bandanna-cloaked activists threatening to turn this month's DNC into the next Battle of Seattle. But since anarchism is fundamentally opposed to our "corrupt" system of government, isn't it ironic that they'd request the $50 million in federal security funds be redirected to government-administered health care, poverty and education programs? Wouldn't an anarchist welfare system be completely opposed to the bureaucratic structure, preferring that funds be distributed via a pickup truck and a leaf blower instead? And if our current system of government is so corrupt and illegitimate, why are anarchists recognizing its authority in the first place by offering to negotiate? Even in the rare likelihood that any city official perked an ear at this ludicrous bit of blackmail, there's no way the anarchists would miss their chance to mug for the cameras or wreak mischief during the last week of August. Just ask "Beaver With Cleaver" and "Cat With Bat," two armed puppets advocating the "disruption, subversion and total destruction" of the DNC and its GOP counterpart in a video placed on YouTube a week ago and produced by some of the groups planning to protest here. Can these anarchists be dissuaded with a handout of capitalist-pig cash? When cats and beavers fly.

A Letter Of Encouragment To All Anarchists

Some of us have learned what we needed to learn, but now we are older, standing in a world that has changed. Many of us have hammered away at projects, watching them slowly become sustainable, only to watch others take what we have created for granted. New people arrive every single day, feeling desperate, wanting action, wanting it now, now, now. Why is it that when we see someone who reminds us of who were when were ignorant, our first reaction is to scowl and denigrate them for being too this, too that? Why is it that everyone who is not an anarchist is treated as an inferior, lucky to be given any attention at all? Why is that, knowing what we know, we keep it all to ourselves and remain in our isolated ghettoes and oasis? Why is contemporary anarchism rarely more than a collection of snobbish white kids doing everything in their power to always be around each other?

August 8: Day of Action Against the Olympics

August 8th is the beginning day of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. We propose that it be a day of simultaneous action and rebellion wherever this message reaches. Instead of passively spectating the Olympics, let's play our own game: the game of attacking international power structures.
The Olympics are a multi-national spectacle that catalyze in their "host nations" break-neck industrial development, gentrification and tourist development, massive increase in police/security operations, and the "social cleansing" of undesirables. After the stage has been set by the forces of the State and developers, international capital in the form of tourism, corporate sponsorship and privatization validates the whole repressive affair and further colonizes whatever venue has been picked. The Games promote a false internationalism that thinly veils the consolidation of power by national governments and multinational corporations.
